BJ will be leaving in three weeks for Ireland to be part of an international prayer team for the G8 meetings in Belfast, hosted by Rosemary and Kevin Sambrook of Belfast, Ireland. The G8 is a global meeting of 8 leaders of nations around the world come together to discuss global economies and issues. President Obama will be attending this meeting. We are pleased that so many of you have written back to be on the prayer team for this assignment. If anyone would still care to sign up as an intercessor or sow financially into this trip please let me know by return mail.
Billy Joe has had several opportunities to share his heart with churches recently. His focus is hearing and building platforms under young men to rise up as fathers in the state. One specific prayer is for godly black men to be raised up as role models for this area of our state. As we know Fatherlessness is a root issue in our state and most of our ministry and prayer is directed toward seeing this addressed. Bj meets with young men to mentor them to be the fathers they are called to be. Recently, while meeting with a young man on the Ole Miss campus, he was called a grandfather in the faith. He has been called a father many times, but this was the first time for this title. Actually the Lord says in Proverbs that the success of a father is only known when his grandchildren follow the Lord. It’s the third generation that determines your success according to the Lord. I suppose BJ has moved into that realm of influence which is quite a compliment.
Billy Joe
Bj continues to meet with the Caleb Company, a group of young leaders from around the state to connect, network and encourage. He is very excited as he watches this group of leaders move out into their ministries in the market place and the church. Several have unique ministries such as healing rooms, journalism, a new church plant and market place to see his kingdom in Mississippi. It is refreshing and wonderful to watch as the Lord begins to raise up this group of young leaders across our state, for His Kingdom purposes.
Ruthie
As we have shifted in the past several years the Lord has given Ruthie two focuses. One of the most delightful ministry opportunities for her is ministering to women and teaching at ladies retreats. She is scheduled for several of these retreats in the coming year and is eagerly anticipating the joy of having an opportunity to be with and enjoy the fellowship with these girls.
The other call for Ruthie is teaching Redemptive gift workshops and following up with ‘Embracing God’s Love for His Land and Cities’, a workshop based on the redemptive gifts of cities. From this platform she works with local intercessors to raise up strategic prayer teams focused on the land and cities. At this time she is working in three specific location around the state.
She is continuing to work on her book, about how a Mercy gift looks at the seven redemptive gifts mentioned in Romans 12.
The Delta Force, a team of intercessors in the Delta still meets with an eye toward calling forth the Kingdom in the Miss Delta. We have seen many direct answers to prayer, particularly in the area of encouraging the younger generation in the Delta. One answer is Hope for Kids. A member of DF is an associate with Hope for Kids. This program, created by Evangelism Explosion in Florida, has chosen Humphreys county schools in the Miss Delta to launch this prototype in the nation. They have reported many miracles as they work with these children after school. Principals from other schools are calling and requesting this for their schools.
Our key purpose is to invite the presence of God into the Delta, and we are looking expectantly to see where He will move next.
